Help Us Build Beaver Park

A Living Tribute to

Orlando “Beaver” Covington Jr.

We’re turning an empty lot in West Atco into a vibrant community park in honor of “Beaver” – a beloved neighbor, funeral director, and West Atco Dojo board member who poured his heart into this community.

WHY BEAVER PARK MATTERS

A park built on love, legacy, and community.

Beaver Park is the future green space right next to the West Atco Dojo – designed as a safe, welcoming place for families, seniors, and scholars to gather, celebrate, and grow together

Your gift helps transform this land into:

A community event space for cookouts, celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings
BBQ and picnic areas where families can share a meal and make memories
Outdoor chess tables where mentors can teach strategy, patience, and focus
A small amphitheater for performances, award ceremonies, and youth programs
A peaceful walking trail for exercise, reflection, and connection with nature

Every dollar moves us closer to opening day.

WHO WAS ORLANDO “BEAVER” COVINGTON JR.?

Orlando Garfield “Beaver” Covington Jr. grew up in West Atco and never stopped giving back to the place that raised him. He was the owner and founder of Covington Funeral Home, known for serving families with dignity, compassion, and excellence across South Jersey.

What started as a childhood dream to become a funeral director became his life’s ministry. He built a respected, African American–owned funeral home in Atco and mentored aspiring morticians, provided jobs, and supported community organizations along the way.

Orlando was also a dedicated board member and supporter of the West Atco Dojo. He and his son attended karate classes together, strengthening both their bond and their connection to the neighborhood youth.

Beaver Park is our way of saying “thank you”—a permanent reminder of his kindness, his leadership, and his commitment to West Atco.
